This was the first human figure I attempted. I'm particularly happy with the calligraphy on this scroll; the hand is a Carolingian miniscule and was my first use of Brause nibs instead of Speedball. Unlike most of my scrolls, this one came straight from my mind with no historical inspiration.
This scroll was also my introduction to "How to Fix your Screw-Ups": I originally blazoned the maces as "Or". I spent six months in scribal-block trying to figure out how to correct this since the correct "Argent" was much larger than the available space. Finally I was hit with inspiration and abbreviated it to fit the space.
