This scroll was created for the Barony of Bhakail's Fencing Champion in 2003 but was never awarded.
The design is based on Bodleian MS. Lat. class. d. 37, folio 4r. The calligraphy is Humanist. As you can see, this tournament was scheduled to take place after our Baron and Baroness had been selected by the Crown but before they had been invested with their coronets, and this would have been our Vicar's only scroll to sign during her vicarage.
I couldn't tell if the "pink" color on the original was paint or gesso for gilding; it's the right color for gesso, but I couldn't see why they'd gild just those three spots, so I decided in the end to recreate the capital with pink gouache in those places.
