This was created in December 2003 as a gift for my boss. This is the first piece of contemporary calligraphy that I've ever attempted. The quote is the last line from Anna Laetitia Barbauld's Washing-Day. My boss received her second Master's degree in 2003; it was an MA in English, and her thesis was on this poem.

The ground is black Canson watercolor paper, a bit toothier than I like but the best weight I could find; the rest is gouache. I used a Brause pen and a brush for the lettering.
